At Hiatt House we (Bruce and Carol Hiatt) having been doing finished ceramics for over 40 years. We progressed from buying our casting slip, under glazes, and glazes to making all of it using our own formulas in order to maintain quality by knowing what we are using.
We mix and blend all of our raw materials and fire in gas kilns. We have our own laboratory to test our products and maintain quality control. Everything is hand decorated using under glaze colors.
We also make our own molds using many shapes designed by the mold makers of the old Stangl factory of Trenton, N.J. that we were fortunate enough to buy and save before they were destroyed.
Several years ago we set up a complete woodworking shop to make wood items to complement our pottery. We travel to sawmills to get fine hardwood lumber to make our furniture quality pieces for our ceramic work like the dog and cat bowl holders that help our pets dine like the Kings and Queens as we know they are. We finish the wood with tough coats of polyurethane and rubber bumpers for anti skid feet and to protect our floors and the bottom of the mug trees to protect table tops.
We try to think of everything to ensure that you get a high quality, Made in the U.S.A. item.
